Below are some of the areas covered, to give you an idea of what we can offer.
Please get in touch and we can make a time to discuss your exact needs.
- This course is the perfect introduction for schools/organisations to support bereaved and grieving children with SEND/LD.
- During the day we will look at our roles and the impact of supporting bereaved individuals.
- The importance of acknowledging the bereavement, grief and loss of individuals with SEND/LD.

- A specific course focused on the grief of children with SLD and PMLD.
- How do we know when they are grieving?
- How do we support grieving children with minimal or no verbal language?
- What resources and techniques should we use?
- These and many more questions will be answered during the course.
- You will leave with a wealth of resources and strategies.
- This course shows you how to get the very most out of using toys (Good Grief Toys®) to support bereaved and grieving children.
- You will learn how to use toys to prepare children for visiting a relative in hospital, attending a funeral, returning to school after a bereavement etc.
- We will look at how to use the toys with a range of grief and loss experiences in a variety of different ways.
- We will think about how the toys can be used support the wider curriculum and how the toys can give staff confidence to talk to children about about difficult subjects.
- This course looks at the benefits of writing and using bereavement & grief plans to support children returning to school following a bereavement.
- We will look at Scandinavia research about bereavement plans.
- During the course templates will be used by the delegates to create bespoke documents for their settings.
- A practical course on how to design policies and procedures for your school/organisation on bereavement, grief, and loss.
- Research has shown schools perform better when they are prepared with policies and procedures in this area.
- During the course templates will be used by the delegates to create bespoke documents for their schools.
- Losses are a part of all of our lives.
- Children need to learn about the losses we all experience in life and be supported in how to deal with them.
- During this course we will look at the impact of day-to-day losses and more significant, long-term losses, and the possible impact they can have on a child's mental health.
- We will consider losses such as a favourite toy being broken, a routine ending, having to move to a new school, the death of a loved one and much more.
- A wide range of activities and resources will be shared during the course.
- The death of a student is something we do not want to think about. It's possibly something that you didn't consider when you applied for your role.
- Sadly, student deaths do occur and the incidence is often higher in special schools where children may have life limiting or life threatening conditions.
- In this course we look at the impact that the death of student can have on staff.
- How we can prepare for this and how we can support ourselves when such a tragedy occurs.
- During the course we consider the mechanisms that organisations can put in place to support this issue. From staff recruitment, induction, training, policies and procedures, and the essential ongoing support (which will in turn improve staff wellbeing and staff retention).
- A wide range of templates and resources will be shared during the course.
